Freeing, Liberating, Enlightening

Uniquest Publishing is an independent press, dedicated to publishing academically sound books that explore liberating faiths and practices. It began as New Horizons Press in 1974 in Chico, California. New Horizons was a fully referred academic press beginning with scholars like Charles Winquist (Communion of Possibility), Arvind Sharma (Textual Studies in Hinduism), Robert Baird (Methodological Issues in Religious Studies), and George Williams (The Quest for Meaning of Svāmī Vivekānanda). New Horizons also published the first study of Shinto by a Shinto priest, Guji Yukitaka Yamamoto (Kami no Michi). Winquist and Williams helped set up Scholars Press in Chico and New Horizons Press went dormant for a number of years. It has reborn as Uniquest Publishing in the digital and publish-on-demand era. Previous publications are in the process conversion with distribution through Kindle for eBooks and Amazon for print copies. For those with access to Academia.com some of our titles will also be available there.
